Giant Checkers & Tic-Tac-Toe – Two Classic Games, One Giant Set

Some games don't need complicated instructions, electronics or a lengthy setup to get people involved. Our Giant Checkers & Tic-Tac-Toe takes two games almost everyone already knows and makes them considerably bigger, creating an easy walk-up activity for parties and events of all kinds.

Challenge somebody to a proper game of giant checkers or switch things around for a quick round of oversized tic-tac-toe. With large playing pieces and a supersized board, familiar tabletop games become something guests can gather around, watch and play together.

Strategy or a Quick Challenge? Choose Your Game

One set gives you two very different ways to play.

Checkers is the option when guests want to settle in for a longer head-to-head battle. Move around the oversized board, capture your opponent's pieces, reach the other side and start creating kings as you work towards victory.

Tic-tac-toe keeps things much quicker. Choose your pieces, take turns and see who can create a line first. Games can be completed rapidly, making it particularly good when lots of guests want a turn.

If anyone needs a reminder of how either game works, you'll find the official rules for checkers and tic-tac-toe in the additional information tab.

A Game Different Generations Can Play Together

One of the best things about giant traditional games is that they aren't aimed at one narrow age group. Children can challenge their parents, grandparents can take on the teenagers, friends can start their own tournament, and adults who weren't planning to play often find themselves discussing the next move from the sidelines.

That makes Giant Checkers & Tic-Tac-Toe particularly useful for family reunions, birthday parties, company picnics, school celebrations, church gatherings, neighborhood events and other occasions where several generations are attending together.

Create a Giant Games Corner

Instead of treating it as a standalone attraction, use Giant Checkers & Tic-Tac-Toe as the starting point for your own Yard Games area.

Add Giant Horseshoes for a completely different throwing challenge, bring in Giant Yard Pong Game for another group activity, or introduce Giant Yardzee Game and let guests move between several oversized versions of familiar games.

This type of setup works particularly well alongside larger attractions. While some guests are using Bounce Houses or racing through Obstacle Courses, other family members can have their own games running nearby.

Great Entertainment Between the Bigger Attractions

Not every part of an event needs to involve climbing, bouncing or racing. Giant games give guests something to do during quieter moments and help provide entertainment for people who may not want to use the larger inflatables.

They're also useful for events with a flexible schedule. Leave the game available and guests can start a match whenever they like rather than waiting for a particular session or organised activity to begin.

CHECKERS GAME RULES

Game Set-up - Each player will set up with pieces on the dark squares until full (three rows)

How to Play

  • Determine who starts by flipping a coin.
  • Checkers may only move on diagonal space forward in the beginning of the game. If your checker is located in the diagonal space nearest to your opponent's checker, then you can jump and capture that checker by jumping over it. Once you capture the checker, you can take if off the board.
  • If you have the opportunity to jump your opponent's checker, then you must do so. If you have the opportunity to jump your opponents checker in multiple parts of the board, then you can choose which checkers you'd like to jump.
  • If you're capturing a checker, you can still only move forward once. But if the new position you land in gives you a direct opportunity to capture another check, then you must keep going until you can't capture any more of your opponent's checkers.
  • King your checkers when they reach the end of your opponent's board by placing one of your own captured pieces on top of it. The king can move forward and backward. Kings can still only move one diagonal space at a time during a non-capture move. However, when a king is capturing checkers, it can move forward and backward on the same turn. Continue jumping and capturing your opponent's checkers until they are all removed from the board.

TIC-TAC-TOE GAME RULES

Game Set-up - Each player will get five (5) discs with the corresponding letter chosen. O - Red, X - Black

How to Play

  • Determine who goes first by standing 3'-10' away depending on skill level and each player will toss one disc onto the play mat. The closest to the center, or most of their disc goes first.
  • Players must stand behind a designated line 3'-10' away depending on skill level, and toss their disc into the desired squares. To avoid rolling and bouncing discs, it is recommended that you toss them by moving your arm straight up (not across in a frisbee like motion), and flick your wrists so that disc spins. This will ensure the disc stays flat and has little to no movement when it lands.
  • If a disc lands partially off the game board, it will count for whichever square it is partially touching. If a disc lands in a spot where it touches more than one (1) square it will count for whichever square more of the discs is in. discs can not be knocked off by other discs. If a square already has a discs in it, when a new disc lands there the first disc counts. The new disc is removed from the board.
  • Players take turn tossing one (1) disc at a time attempting to get three (3) of their discs in a row to win the game. Discs that miss the game board or bounce/roll off will remain there until all discs have been tossed. If all discs have been tossed but the game board is not full and no player has gotten three (3) in a row, each player will toss one (1) discs until either the game board is full or someone has gotten three (3) in a row.
  • Optional Tiebreaker: This only applies when the game board is full and no player has 3 in a row. Each player can remove one of their opponents pieces from the location that is blocking their potential three (3) in a row and give it back to their opponent. This should leave the board with two (2) open squares and each player with two (2) in a row. Play resumes on whomever turn it was next. Same rules apply. First to get three (2) in a row wins. If the game board fills back up again without a winner, repeat the same process until someone get the three (3) in a row.
